The placement will help you bring down the humidity to comfortable level, and the placement could leave your dehumidifier useless..
There is not always lot of airflow in crawl space, and if you put the unit next to the wall then it wo not be able to eliminate the moisture as effectively..
keep the dehumidifier on that side of the room to help counteract humidity levels as you add water to your plants..
it can help draw moisture out, so try placement above it, away from the floor carpet. .
Just like you would not use in room, or AC in room, you also need to make sure you're using your in the right place..

You need to make sure that the dehumidifier can pull air in from all areas of the order to work most effectively and lower the room humidity..
like living rooms or family rooms, then I would recommend placing it away from the wall and corners, towards the middle of the large room..
then you can place it in corner or near wall and it will still reduce the humidity level..
This allows the dehumidifier to pull in the damp air through the filter with the internal fan..
