Whether it's hotly anticipated Amazon package or letter to grandma, USPS carriers endure rain, snow, heat, and gloom, across some 233,000 routes order to get these items into waiting hands.
Postal Service announced that it had reached agreement with Ford to purchase 9,250 E-Transit battery electric vehicles to be used for deliveries. The reveal comes on the heels of earlier announcements where the agency pledged to buy at least 66,000 EVs within the next five years.
In support of these efforts, it will also order some 14,000 charging stations to be installed and used at USPS facilities..

The effort to modernize and electrify the largest fleet, will take investment of $9.6 billion, including $3 billion from Inflation Reduction Act funding.
And the largest fleet is, fact, also the oldest.
The newest electrics will replace some 30-year-old vehicles that lack safety features, including airbags and air conditioning..
